Temperatures are rising and now is the perfect time to have the most refreshing summer drink. Watermelons are in season now and rather than just slicing and eating, they are the perfect ingredient for a summertime slushy!
We will be making watermelon-lime slushes with frozen pieces of watermelon rather than with ice. The flavor turns out stronger and delicious that way. The combination of the sweet watermelon and the sour lime creates a magical taste. You would just wanna drink glasses and glasses of it.
This easy slushy recipe is simple to make with ingredients you probably already have on hand. So go on, and make this summer delight and enjoy your summer! 😊
While you’re here, let me show you how to cut the watermelon up so it’s in delicious little chunks that are easy to eat:
1.Cut the top and bottom off so it can lay flat on a cutting board
2. Run a sharp knife down the sides, taking the rind off.
3. Cut it into the desired number of disks, then cut it up into chunks.
4. Then freeze the cubes to make the Watermelon Lime Slushy!
Here are the list of ingredients and the method of preparation:
Recipe courtesy: Joanne Ozug of Fifteen Spatulas
Yield: about 2 cups
2 cups watermelon, diced and frozen for at least 2 hours
2 tbsp simple syrup* or just 4-5 tbsp of sugar
2 tbsp lime juice
lemon slices for garnish
✔Place the watermelon, simple syrup, and lime juice into a blender and pulse until blended and you get your desired consistency (I didn’t want chunks in mine, so I blended it pretty thoroughly).
✔Pour in a glass and serve.
Notes
*Simple syrup is 2 parts sugar to 1 part water. You can just microwave it to dissolve the sugar.
If you have the patience, it would be better if u could remove the seeds of the watermelon to avoid biting into them while drinking.
