This is a perfect recipe when you don’t want to spend too much time in the kitchen. This is soo easy that it’s embarassing to post this. Actually I was not planning on posting this recipe, but I couldn’t resist from posting as it is so incredibly delicious and soo flavorful even though you just need 5 basic ingredients to put this together excluding the chicken, salt and oil.
It was my sweet mom in law who introduced this recipe to me. She had made it when she was here in kuwait. We all loved it so much and so I sat next to her with a pen and a paper and asked her for the recipe waiting to note down the huge list of ingredients. She was like you don’t need to note it down as its soo simple, you just need 5 ingredients. I was like…..”Noooo, really?”.
Come on- just 5 ingredients? It was hard to believe.
And she explained it to me and I couldn’t believe that a dish soo flavorful is this simple to make.
So what’s a blogger to do?
Well, of course.
Blog it! 🙂
You guys must try this one out to see how awesome this dish is. Perfect recipe for all the busy people out there! 🙂
500 gms chicken
For marination:
2 tsp red chilly powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
For the gravy:
7 cloves garlic crushed
2 medium tomatoes chopped
Curry leaves
3 tbsp coconut oil
1. Marinate the chicken in the above mentioned ingredients.
- In a heavy bottom pan, add the oil and when that heats up, add in the curry leaves and garlic. Sauté well for 2 mins.
-
Add in the chopped tomatoes and cook till the tomatoes are nicely mashed up.
-
Add in the marinated chicken and cook on low flame covered for about 45 mins, stirring once in a while. You don’t have to add water.
-
After 45 mins, if there is more gravy you can cook further on high flame to thicken the sauce.
-
Serve with chapathi, pooris, paranthas or rice.
✔️ If you want, once the chicken is cooked you can take out the chicken pieces and shallow fry it in coconut oil and put it back in the thick gravy.

So glad that you found my blog. Thank you so much for the feedback Mel. 🙂
I made this today. It was very yummy. Only thing is the gravy dried up quite a bit so the dish was a little dry. Is there anything I can use to make it more saucy please? Thanks for the quick and easy recipe. Xx
Hey Habiba,
I’m so so sorry for replying this late.
This dish wouldn’t have much gravy. But you can make a saucy gravy by not drying out the gravy after the chicken is done. As in don’t cook for long. You can also use about 2 tbsp of tomato paste along with tomatoes, this way the gravy will be thicker. Hope this helped. 🙂
