6 ingredient spicy prawns roast!!!
You all love these few ingredients, quick fix recipes, don’t ya? So here is another such post for you, just for you! 😃
Last week I stumbled across one of my old posts, 5 ingredient incredibly easy chicken masala and i thought that it’s time to bring another few ingredient recipe here and that is when i remembered the prawns roast recipe.
Ok, shall we list out and count the sweet and short list of ingredients for this?
Prawns
Tomato paste
Red chilli powder
Turmeric powder
Curry leaves
Garlic
A little bit of coconut oil or vegetable oil, and salt. You already will have these ingredients in hand, so lets count that as freebies.
Easiest meal of all time. It’s no secret that i love really simple recipes and one that doesn’t require a massive trip to the grocery store to get 20 billion ingredients. Hehe! I’m sure you will be having some fresh prawns sitting in your freezer right now. Maybe just go check real quick…hmmm…see, i told you! Now take them out and prepare this beautifully, immensely easy prawns roast.
Ingredients
- 600g prawns
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 1/2 tsp kashmiri chilli powder
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp garlic paste
- Curry leaves
- 4 tbsp coconut oil/ vegetable oil
- Salt to taste
NOTES:
✔️ I used kashmiri chilli powder, which is not very spicy. If you are using normal chilli powder, adjust the spice level according to your preference.
Method:
- In a pan add prawns, tomato paste, chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt. Mix well. Keep in low flame covered. Cook on low for 10 minutes.
- Open lid and you can see that lots of water will be released from the prawns. Increase heat to high and let the water reduce till the desired thickness of gravy is achieved. If you want more gravy dont let all the water evaporate.
- In a heavy bottom pan or kadai, heat coconut oil. Add the garlic and sauté for a minute. Add the curry leaves.
- Pour the cooked prawns along with gravy to the oil and roast for few minutes. If you want lots of gravy, don’t roast for a long time. If you want it dry, roast longer.
- Serve warm.

Wow!
Amazing pics
Will have to make this for dinner one night! It looks delicious and I love that it doesn’t require too many ingredients! As always beautiful photos! x
Is that tomato paste which comes in tin? Or normal ketch up or sauce?
Its the one that comes in tins or small tetra packs, not ketchup.
Great mouth watering pics. You have become an expert photographer with all the props and color combinations. Just one doubt, will the prawns not become rubbery if kept on the flame for a long period of time?
Hello jaffer! Thanks a lot for the good words. The prawn doesn’t become rubbery, try it. Let me know how it turns out for you.
