Whole Wheat Batura

This whole wheat batura is a deep-fried, puffed-up bread made with whole wheat flour, offering a wholesome twist on the traditional recipe.

Whole Wheat Batura

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Cup Yoghurt Not too sour
  • 1 Tbsp Oil plus more while kneading and for deep frying
  • ½ Tsp Salt
  • 1 Tbsp Sugar
  • 2 Cups Atta Whole wheat flour
  • 2 Tbsp Semolina Rava
  • ½ Tbsp Baking Powder

Instructions
 

  • Combine all the dry ingredients.
  • Add oil and mix.
  • Add yoghurt and knead well to a semi soft dough. Add more yoghurt if you feel dough is getting hard.
  • Let the dough rest for 1 hour
  • Roll it into small oval shapes. Do not roll it very thin or else it won’t puff well. Don't make it very thick too.
  • Heat oil and once it becomes very hot, fry the batura in it. Flip and cook on both sides and drain on an absorbent towel.
  • Serve with curry.
