Crispy Chicken Skewers

Crispy Chicken Skewers are flavorful, marinated chicken strips threaded onto skewers, coated in a crunchy breadcrumb and cornflake mixture, and deep-fried until golden brown. They’re crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and perfect for iftar or as a kid-friendly snack. 

Ramadan is here, and for many of us, it’s a time of reflection, devotion, and of course, delicious food that brings the family together. My son is fasting, and I’ve been trying to make meals that are both filling and exciting for him. One of his favorites? These Crispy Chicken Skewers!

They’re crunchy, flavorful, and so easy to make. If your little ones are fasting, this is a great option to serve at iftar—something that’s not just delicious but also kid-friendly. The best part? You can prep and freeze them ahead of time, making iftar preparation much easier!

Crispy Chicken Skewers

Ingredients
  

  • 400 g boneless chicken thighs or breasts cut in cubes

for marination and in batter:

  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 2 tsp cajun spice
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder

for coating:

  • 1 cup corn flakes
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs

for batter

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 2tbsp water
  • salt
  • oil for deep frying

Instructions
 

  • Marinate chicken with half of the ingredients under marination along with salt.
  • Skewer the chicken.
  • make batter by mixing flour, water and remaining spices.
  • Crush cornflakes with hand and mix bread crumbs into it.
  • Dip the chicken fully in batter, then coat with bread crumbs mixture.
  • Deep fry and enjoy.
