Simple 6 Ingredient Prawns Roast

An immensely easy to put together prawns roast made with just 6 ingredients.

  • 600 g prawns
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 1/2 tsp kashmiri chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garlic paste
  • Curry leaves
  • 4 tbsp coconut oil/ vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste



  • In a pan add prawns, tomato paste, chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt. Mix well. Keep in low flame covered. Cook on low for 10 minutes.
  • Open lid and you can see that lots of water will be released from the prawns. Increase heat to high and let the water reduce till the desired thickness of gravy is achieved. If you want more gravy dont let all the water evaporate.
  • In a heavy bottom pan or kadai, heat coconut oil. Add the garlic and sauté for a minute. Add the curry leaves.
  • Pour the cooked prawns along with gravy to the oil and roast for few minutes. If you want lots of gravy,don’t roast for a long time. If you want it dry, roast longer.
  • Serve warm.


* I used kashmiri chilli powder, which is not very spicy. If you are using normal chilli powder, adjust the spice level according to your preference.
