If you still don’t know what to make for dinner tonight, I have the perfect solution for you. Try your hands on this mouthwatering honey glazed chicken, a perfect blend of sweet and heat. When i made it, the chicken was perfectly seasoned, spicy and had just the right amount of sticky honey sweetness.
I know a meal is a success when my husband asks me to make it again, the very next day. He loved it so much. 🙂 Best of all? This was a dish i made in desperation, when it was high time for me to go for grocery shopping. I raided my kitchen and i found boneless chicken breast in my freezer. And i had this recipe in my reading list for quite sometime.
We were so desperate to eat this that i couldn’t take much photos. 😉 Didn’t have time to do much styling and table setting. So bare with me. You will understand what we were going through, when you make it by yourself. Hehe! 😀
Hope you try this chicken, and like it as much as we do.
Serves 2
Recipe courtesy: Maria of Maria’s Menu
250g Boneless chicken
For marination:
1 tbsp Lemon juice
1 tbsp Plain flour (maida)
1 tbsp Cornflour
1 Egg white
Salt to taste
1 Onion, medium – big
1 tsp each Ginger & garlic
1-2 tbsp Celery
1 1/2 tsp Kashmiri chilly powder
1/2 tbsp Vinegar
11/2 -2 tbsp Tomato sauce or ( 1 tbsp Thai sweet chilly sauce+ 1 tbsp Tomato ketchup+ 1/2 tbsp Chilly garlic sauce)
11/2 tbsp Honey
Oil
Salt
- Cut the chicken pieces into thin strips. Marinate the cleaned chicken pieces with the ingredients listed under marination and keep aside for 15 mins.
- Fry the marinated chicken pieces and keep aside. Don’t pour the left over marinade (if any left) over the chicken while frying.
3. Heat oil in a pan and add finely chopped onion, ginger, garlic & celery. Saute till the onion becomes soft, it doesnt have to become brown.
4. Mix together Kashmiri chilly powder & vinegar. Add this paste to the onion mix. Fry it for 1-2 mins, till the raw smell of the chilly powder is gone.
5. Add the sauces, honey & salt. Mix well.
6. Add the fried chicken pieces and combine well. Make sure that the chicken pieces are well coated with the sauce. Serve hot.
Notes:
✔️ You can make the same with prawns too.
✔️ I shallow fried the chicken pieces and used the same pan to prepare the sauce also.
✔️ The original recipe calls for ajino motto, but I didnt add it.
✔️ I didn’t have celery at home, so i skipped it. But it still tasted too good.
✔️ If you don’t have sweet chilly sauce and chilly garlic sauce, you can skip it and just add tomato ketchup. If you have Sriracha sauce, use that.
